We quickly held our first Mother’s Day campaign, Mothers in Motion, this month, May 2021. Since Nurse’s Week was the same week as Mother’s Day we wanted to acknowledge mothers who were also nurses caring for others. We searched, we asked, we tried to find several mothers who were also nurses. We are excited to say that we received nominations for two deserving nurse mothers!
Nurse mother #1 is an ER nurse at a local hospital. She spends her time caring for strangers during the most vulnerable time in their life, then after a long day she goes home to care for a family member with severe health issues. As if that wasn’t enough, she handles the role of church mother at her church. We were told she cooks for everyone and she cares for many. She is cherished and looked up to by many in her community. (As of the writing of this post we have not secured permission to share this nurse mother’s name and photo.)
Nurse mother #2 is a private nurse at a local doctor’s practice. She spends her time during the day assisting the physician and his patients, then at the end of her day she cares for her mother as well as steps in to teach Sunday School where she is needed. We personally met her and delivered her gift at her place of employment. (As of the writing of this post we have not secured permission to share this nurse mother’s name and photo.)
When we met these two nurse mothers we could see why they were nominated. We honor all mothers and all nurses who carry the responsibilities of making a difference in others’ lives upon their shoulders. This was our first of many ‘Mothers in Motion’ campaigns. Each year we expect to acknowledge many more.
If you know of an outstanding mother for our next annual campaign, stay tuned for our 2022 Mothers in Motion’ campaign kickoff.
In the meantime, you may nominate a deserving father for our upcoming 2021 Fathers in Motion campaign here.
